Reflection
The discussion that was put before us was on immigration. Although it would have seemed that this topic would be easy to talk about, to me it was not so. The matter of the fact is the topic is really simple yet complex in every way.
Immigrants want to come to the country for it is a place of promise and opportunity, yet people that are seeing them as law breakers are preventing them from having an opportunity like us Americans have been blessed with. One needs to see the issue through the eyes of immigrant for one to understand what is really at hand. Yes, they are breaking laws that prohibit the crossing of the border without proper documentation, but they don't have the money or the time to wait to do it legally. All they want is a better life.
This discussion opened my eyes on both sides of the coin, yet there is no conclusion to the issue nor will there ever be one. The issue of immigration is something that has been a problem in America for a long time and seems to have no end to it. I have learned a lot and I am sadden to the fact that immigration reform, in all its best intentions, will never be satisfying.
This is a never ending issue that seems to have no end in sight no matter what kind of president we have or what actions we take.
